WELCOME TO FOURTH GRADE
2012 - 2013 SCHOOL YEAR
We want to welcome you and your family to the fourth grade with Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Murphy. We will be learning many new things together this year. Hopefully, we will have a wonderful start by having all the necessary tools needed in the classrooms.
Some early reminders may be helpful:
Lunch/milk money – Write your name and grade on the front of the envelope and turn in on the first day of each week.
Be prompt – School starts at 8:00am. That means that you are in your desk and ready for class at 8:00. Three unexcused tardies results in an afterschool detention. If you need to be late, let us know with a note before that day. Vacation plans need to be given to us at least a week prior, to allow us enough time to give you a list of required work.
Wear the correct uniform and keep shirts tucked in. Girls are not allowed to roll the tops of skirts. Clear or neutral color fingernail polish only. Belts and socks are required. No jewelry except small earrings and watches. Note other rules in the assignment book.
Assignment notebooks will be used daily. Homework is written on the board and easily copied. Make this a daily habit. Our websites do talk about daily work, but daily homework is NOT always posted.
Keep 'toys' home. If you want to bring a ball from home, remember that you are responsible for it and it should be shared. If you are in Latch Key, your things are kept in your locker until after school. No cell phones are allowed to be used during school hours.
Extra paper, pens, pencils, and notebooks that you won't be using should be taken home to make room in lockers. You can bring them back when needed. School provides lots of scrap paper but you are responsible for everything else.
Troll and Scholastic book orders are offered at a fair price about once a month. Write one check to Mrs. Johnson , not the company . Last year my envelope was lost in the mail and I had to ask for everyone to rewrite checks. I can write one and it is so much easier.
We are again using MyStudentProgress for grades. Make sure that you and your parents remember your password. Grades will be kept up weekly so you can follow your progress. This is a perfect way to stay on top of grades instead of waiting for the end of a quarter.
Field Trips have not been scheduled yet. Information will be sent home as they come closer. Due to room on the buses, 4 chaperons are allowed per trip. Sign up will be on Meet the Teacher Night. We ask that your parents sign up for only one trip to allow more parents to participate.
More to follow as needs arise. See you Meet the Teacher Night.
Be sure to have questions ready.
Let's make this year the best ever!
